Broadband
types
There are two main
broadband types;
ADSL that’s offered
by companies like
BT, Orange and Sky
and cable broadband
from Virgin Media.
The main difference
is that for ADSL you
need a phone line,
but for cable, you
don’t.
Broadband
deals
Here are a
few things to look
out for when
shopping for your
broadband deal:
- Price – check the contract to see if the deal you’re being offered is too good to be true. Low prices may be offered but this might only apply for the first few months of a l-o-n-g contract.
- Usage – ask if there are any restrictions on the amount of data you can use. Some companies set a limit and will charge you, if you exceed it. The best deal is one that offers unlimited download.
- Support – see if the contract comes with support (that you may need if you’re setting up broadband for the first time) and whether there’s any extra cost involved.
